Interim Police Chief Kurtis West reviewed the department's reports at the Jan. 15 meeting, noting 277 animal-control tags issued and one VIN inspection recorded for the 2020 season. He requested permission to attend two professional trainings: Case Law and Practices for Search & Seizure in Miami County on March 26, 2020, and LASO training in Gardner on March 19, 2020. The council approved both training requests by 3-0 votes.
West and City Attorney Burton Harding will also work on new forfeiture-reporting procedures, the council was told during other-business remarks. The minutes show routine departmental reporting and scheduled training as the principal police items for the meeting.
