Three separate property owners asked the council to waive local sidewalk requirements for infill or single‑lot developments where no sidewalks exist on the same side of the street.
City staff reviewed petition packets and recommended waivers for the locations because sidewalks do not currently exist on the same side of the road; councilmember Tashnick said it would be “silly” to require a single homeowner to install a sidewalk that would lead to nowhere. The three petitions will be placed on the Aug. 17 consent agenda for final action.
Gasper, representing TCM Development LLC, told council that the west side of the relevant street lacks sidewalks and that adding one would not be consistent with neighboring lots. City staff confirmed that each petitioner paid the required fee for a sidewalk waiver request and provided area information for council review.
