Board agrees to annual updates from major school fundraising groups, stops short of direct oversight

Board members discussed how the district should relate to three active fundraising groups — Booster Club, Buff Nation and the Buffalo Foundation — after concerns about donor fatigue and overlapping efforts were raised.

One board member argued the board is "charged with the oversight of the school, and making sure it's managed well and things are coordinated," and proposed that board liaisons meet with group leaders and that each group provide an annual update to the board to describe objectives and avoid duplication. Another board member pushed back, saying the board should not tell community groups how to spend privately raised money and that the district's role should be limited to coordination and transparency.

The board agreed on a middle course: invite the three organizations at least once a year to present updates on their activities and major campaigns, and allow ad-hoc appearances for significant initiatives. The motion was framed as informational rather than regulatory: the board will seek better coordination and awareness but will not attempt to micromanage private nonprofit spending.
