Treasurer reviews FY'25 status; Selectboard defers budget forecast

Greg Barrows, the town treasurer, walked the Selectboard through the FY'25 General Fund and Highway budget status reports on March 26, 2026. Board members reviewed expenditures and capital reserves, including funds associated with an existing salt shed; the board discussed options for reassigning unused capital reserves to help cover Library expenses if appropriate.
The Selectboard reviewed and approved accounts payable and payroll warrants during the meeting. Barrows said he could not prepare a reliable multi-year budget forecast for this meeting given available information and agreed to provide the requested forecast at the next Selectboard meeting. The board also discussed the timing of budget workshops and agreed to be more proactive in the next budget cycle to reduce time pressure.
