At 8:17 p.m. the Westford Selectboard voted unanimously to enter executive session to discuss legal and personnel matters; Town Administrator Tommy O'Connor was invited to attend. The board exited executive session at 8:51 p.m.
After the closed session the board voted 4-0 to instruct the Town Administrator to contact counsel for updates on an ongoing legal action and to reach out to the Justices of the Peace to form a nominating committee, per the Town Charter, to search for a Collector of Delinquent Taxes. Pat Haller moved to authorize the Town Administrator to seek legal updates; Deb Jorschick seconded and the motion passed 4-0. A separate motion to form a nominating committee also passed 4-0.
The motions were procedural directions to staff and did not disclose the subject matter of the legal discussion, which the board found would place the town at a significant disadvantage if revealed prematurely.
