Staff reported the splash pad budgetary plan: $50,000 from general revenue, $25,000 from the parks budget and $25,000 in donations or in-kind Rotary support for an initial $100,000 goal if the city wins a matching Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant.
The assistant city administrator said the city will apply for the LWCF grant to match the city and donation funding and that, if successful, the project could move forward in late 2027. "They'll apply for LWCF grant to match that, bring it to 100 K if we win that grant," he said. Board members noted that placing capital improvements in the master plan strengthens grant applications and staff said the splash pad location will follow the master plan site near the old pool area.
The board also discussed accompanying capital items in the draft budget, including two picnic tables and eight trash cans intended for the coming year.
