Members said last year’s event was very popular, running out of pumpkins, and that this year they will aim for a larger supply (discussed targets ranged from about 50 up to 100 pumpkins).
Committee members discussed operational details including volunteer recruitment, promotional materials, event stations, and safety steps such as pre-coring pumpkins so small children are not handling knives. A committee member said, "If they're all hollowed out, it'd be great," and urged earlier planning and pre-coring to improve safety and throughput. The board decided the park board will lead the event with Friends of the Park allowed to sponsor and assist; volunteers and interested members will be organized and the Pumpkin Glow Committee will schedule follow-up meetings to coordinate logistics and promotion.
Members also discussed whether the Friends of the Park or the park board should take primary responsibility. The Chair said the park board would keep primary oversight while Friends could co-sponsor and assist with promotion and fundraising.
