Wallsburg Council unanimously adopts Fiscal Year 2027 budget after public hearing

The Wallsburg Town Council voted unanimously June 4 to adopt the town's Fiscal Year 2027 budget following a public hearing and final review. Councilmember Rohn Hortin moved to adopt the proposed budget and Mary Piscitelli seconded; the motion passed with all seven members present voting in favor.
Councilmember Terri Eisel read the hearing notice and outlined changes in the proposed budget, citing increased spending for Admin Professional and Technical Services to cover additional audits related to recently received grant funds and higher insurance costs. Eisel noted, "Wasatch County has not yet released the data for forecasted municipal property tax revenues," and said the town used Fiscal Year 2026 receipts as the current estimate for FY2027 and will review the numbers for a possible amendment when the county releases its forecast in late June 2026. The public hearing was opened for comment and no public comments were offered.
The council's action follows in-meeting discussion that the town may need to amend its property-tax revenue estimate if Wasatch County's forecast differs from the town's current estimate. The adoption is effective for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026; council recorded the formal motion (moved by Rohn Hortin, seconded by Mary Piscitelli) and a unanimous vote to adopt the budget.
