At its Sept. 23 meeting the Mabton City Council approved Ordinance 2025-1199 to add a new chapter to the city code establishing a special-events permitting process for parades and ceremonies.
The mayor read the ordinance summary and introduced a motion to approve; the motion was moved by Diane and seconded by Mary. Council discussed a correction to the ordinance effective date on the public record, then approved the measure by voice vote (Aye; motion carried).
Council members said the new chapter will give the city a permitting framework for parades and other public ceremonies and directed staff to finalize the ordinance language and the corrected effective date in the finalized document.
