The Stanley County School District 57-1 board voted to approve a change order to add track-and-field equipment at the district's new sports complex, voting to proceed with a roughly $61,002.79 purchase for discus cages plus related installation work.
Facilities presenter John told the board: "I'm sure you guys saw the press box is up. That'll be finished by Monday," and described a scope that included aluminum frames, concrete pads, ground sleeves and bedding for the new discus rings and cages. He said audio and lighting work should follow within days and that manufacturer lead times nationwide had delayed some deliveries.
Board members weighed timing and budget trade-offs for the additional equipment and for a shortened javelin runway sized for practice. Betty moved the change order; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote. Administrators said the additional cages would allow for practice availability and could be installed after other site work is completed to accommodate a manufacturer's four-week lead time.
The district plans a ribbon-cutting for the complex on the 29th and expects the press box and most field systems to be operational before the first scheduled varsity game.
