Mayor Jeannine Earls used her council remarks May 27 to note a scheduled meeting with Representative Reschke to discuss increasing DMV service hours in La Pine and to report that the Water Board is pursuing legislative measures to protect groundwater resources. She also thanked the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office for additional patrol hours and assistance with cleanup efforts and praised Public Works staff for cemetery maintenance.
Councilors thanked staff and residents for engagement on the Boxminer matter and commended staff for the research provided. Council President VanDamme emphasized that the council hears all viewpoints because members are residents as well; Councilor Morse thanked staff for researching the issue and encouraged continued public participation.
