La Pine council votes unanimously to close consideration of Boxminer land sale

The La Pine City Council voted unanimously May 27 to instruct city administration to conclude consideration of the proposed sale of county-owned property to Boxminer and to determine the purchase and sale is closed on lot 221040000101. Councilor Morse made the motion and Councilor Shields seconded; Council President Cathi VanDamme, Councilor Shields, Councilor Curtis and Councilor Morse voted Aye.
City Manager Geoff Wullschlager presented staff analysis that raised significant discrepancies between Boxminer's projections and staff calculations, including power-revenue and job estimates. Staff told the council that "insufficient support data had been provided to verify the proposal's revenue and employment projections." The motion directed city administration to conclude the matter at this meeting, effectively ending further city consideration of the proposed sale unless new, verifiable information is provided to staff.
