Public Services acknowledged a $15,000 donation from the Robert Kenning Trust for improvements at Kenning Park.
Staff reported urban-forest activity: 220 trees planted in spring, an expected 250 in September and another 350 thereafter for an approximate total of 800 new trees this year. Engineering presented several ongoing programs (concrete, sewer rehabilitation, asphalt resurfacing, Cape Seal streets and the North Old Woodward utilities work) and noted the South Eaton Water Main Project will move to anticipated contract award next meeting.
Managers also updated on parking-system procurement (a rebid likely for Chester Garage interior design after one nonresponsive bidder) and said staff is evaluating elevators citywide. The interim police chief (Captain Ryan Kearney) will be introduced at a future meeting. The manager asked commissioners to bring questions for future agendas to the communications item or submit them offline.
