A board member described meeting with Copeland of Camp Community College to promote vocational program connections and said the college has slots available for Franklin students. The board member said students from Southampton who completed the program were hired directly by the shipyard and urged families to explore the program; the speaker also said the board would pursue grants or other funding to help cover program costs.
The chair thanked community members and Franklin Police Department representatives for attending the meeting, and acknowledged concerns about vacancies in the school system, saying the board is working to recruit qualified applicants to fill needed positions for students.
