Cheryl Milton Roberts was elected president of the Normandy Schools Collaborative Board of Education after a roll-call vote during a reorganization of board leadership.
Dr. Harris nominated Roberts, saying, "I nominate Cheryl Milton Roberts." The board then voted by roll call; Vice President Jefferson, Director Pearson, Director Milton Roberts and Director Edwards voted yes, while Secretary Taylor and Director Davis Day voted no. The motion to elect Roberts passed.
The board then nominated Monica Jefferson for vice president. With no additional nominations, the board took a roll-call vote and confirmed Jefferson. Theresa Pearson was nominated and confirmed for the combined secretary/treasurer role. Director Pearson agreed to continue as the board's MSBA delegate, and the board appointed Vice President Jefferson as the alternate to the special school district.
Board members conducting the roll calls read each seat aloud as part of the formal tally. The reorganization followed rules described by the presiding official, who said the superintendent would facilitate nomination collection. The newly confirmed officers will assume the duties announced at the meeting and the board adjourned after completing the consent agenda.
