The Meagher County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on June 15 to create a five-member Fairgrounds Board to manage the county's new fairgrounds. Resolution FY25.26 #92 designates seats for a County Representative, a City of White Sulphur Springs Representative, a 4‑H Council Representative, a Meagher County Rodeo Club Representative and an ex officio MSU Extension Agent, who will serve as secretary.
County Attorney Burt Hurwitz outlined the resolution’s authorities and limits, including the requirement that any single expenditure or contract in excess of $5,000 must receive prior approval by the Board of County Commissioners. The resolution also prescribes two-year staggered terms for appointed members, open meeting requirements, reporting obligations and duties to manage use, scheduling and maintenance of the Fairgrounds. Commissioners said the board is intended to allow 4‑H and rodeo club operations to continue while providing shared oversight. The measure was moved by Commissioner Brewer and seconded by Vice‑Chairman Errol Galt and recorded as approved.
