Commissioners approve posting for sheriff deputy and 911 night dispatcher

Sheriff Jon Lopp asked the board for permission to advertise both positions online and in the local newspaper. Commissioner Brewer moved to approve the postings and Chairman Ben Hurwitz seconded; the board voted to pass Resolution FY 25.26 #90.
Lopp earlier told the board that Deputy Wilson’s last day will be July 4 and that the department had received four applications to replace him. Lopp also confirmed that Deputy Wilson’s K‑9 will go with Wilson to his new position. The sheriff noted the office’s new records system is better at tracking warnings and tickets, a change the department is using to manage patrol data.
With the resolution passed, the county will proceed to place the advertisements and accept applications. The board did not set a hiring deadline during the meeting.
