Planning Commission readies household survey; seeks clarity on $2,000 printing/mailing allocation

Gail Hurd told the Select Board that the Planning Commission has drafted a household survey to gather resident viewpoints for the town plan revision and that they will perform a final review at their next meeting. Hurd noted there is $2,000 in the coming fiscal budget for planning purposes but said she believed much of that may be allocated to the regional planning commission’s assistance; she asked staff to estimate printing and mailing costs, noting that a professional-format survey may be multiple pages and require hand-stuffing envelopes.
Board members suggested options for outreach — Front Porch Forum, a small local newspaper blurb, and the town calendar — and discussed whether to include return postage or have citizens drop completed surveys at the town office to save mailing costs. Hurd said volunteers would help fold and stuff mailings if needed, and the board asked the town clerk to provide a printing/postage estimate.
