Gail Hurd, speaking for Festival on the Green and noting the event’s long history, asked the Select Board to allow town staff to use a town truck to move roughly 200 folding wooden chairs from Champlain College to the town green before the festival and return them after the event. "It's a huge gift to the festival," Hurd said, noting that volunteers and town employees have done this work historically.
A Select Board member moved to approve the request to borrow town trucks and personnel for setup and takedown, including return of the chairs after the festival. The board voted in favor. Members described the arrangement as a modest in-kind town support and expressed appreciation for the festival organizers. Gail Hurd said this will be the festival’s 46th year.
The board did not allocate new funds beyond routine staff time; the approval covers the one-day use and requires coordination of truck scheduling and staff availability.
