Commission hears TRIP grant details and local match for Patriot 2 project

County Engineer Dan Dahlke presented details on an ALDOT TRIP grant for a local road project with an estimated total cost that was roughly $2.86 million at the time of application and $2.0 million in state TRIP funding.
Dahlke said local jurisdictions will need to cover the remainder; he said Veil City has committed up to $350,000 toward the project and that updated culvert plans might reduce widening costs, lowering the local match. “So it might come in a little bit lesser… about 300,000,” Dahlke said when commissioners asked about the county share.
Dahlke also described the Patriot 2 project and said GMC prepared the application and would provide design and planning services once the state agreement is finalized. Commissioners directed staff to gather quotes and return a recommendation at Tuesday’s regular meeting so the commission can consider formal approval of contracts and any required budget amendments.
