Superintendent told the board the district has identified camera-system upgrades and is finalizing a vendor to standardize cameras and expand access for building administrators. "Our camera system ... the hardware is quite old and the efficiency of it is I think it's on its last leg," the superintendent said; staff noted the chosen vendor will convert existing cameras without an annual certification fee and some replacements would be paid for with safety grants.
The superintendent said the upgrade will let principals and deans view footage from a phone app, simplify parental requests for video (with built-in face-blurring to preserve privacy) and allow the district to add cameras in new locations such as the gym. Staff will return with vendor details and placement recommendations for board review.
