Board hears summer facilities update: doors, turf, welding booth and $200,000 booked to capital fund

Superintendent provided the board with a rundown of completed and ongoing summer facilities work across district schools, noting that many projects come from the district's long-range plan and are timed to avoid student disruption. "At Treffert, we also did window replacements because those were authentic," the superintendent said, and described work at BAMS (urinal/bathroom upgrades and heating-pipe repair), Trapper (door replacements), high school gym and band-room repairs, FLC playground turf installation and a full welding-booth replacement in the Horace Mann tech-ed area.
The superintendent said the district will add about $200,000 into Fund 46 for the coming year and that account will be close to or just over $1 million; staff said large capital items (roofs, track replacement) will be considered as the fund accrues. The board discussed scheduling such work during summer to avoid interrupting the school year and asked staff to bring capital-plan timing and budget implications to future meetings.
