Residents request evening public hearing, moratorium on data centers in Gage County

Ryan Dorn of Cortland supported holding an evening meeting, saying local meetings are where residents can have a meaningful say: “I do think that it is important that we do set a time for hearing… Maybe we do an evening like Deb proposed.” Jeff Beekler noted the county’s Planning and Zoning board had unanimously recommended a moratorium so the county could better understand the effects of data centers; he urged supervisors to honor that recommendation and schedule a hearing as soon as possible.
The chair thanked the speakers and did not set a public hearing date during the meeting. No formal board action to set a hearing was recorded in the transcript during public comment; speakers asked that the hearing be prioritized and held at a time accessible to working residents.
