Brooks County selects McAllen Roofing bid and approves library roof repair contract

Brooks County Commissioners voted unanimously Feb. 13 to award the Ed Rachal Memorial Library roof repair to McAllen Roofing Commercial for $61,886.58 after reviewing three bids. County officials also discussed moving forward with a Dura-Last system under the TIPS purchasing cooperative; Robert Gardner of Dura-Last described a 15-year manufacturer warranty and said installation would take about two weeks beginning in March.
Commissioner Aaron Trevino made the motion to accept the McAllen Roofing bid, which Commissioner Nora Salinas seconded; the roll-call vote was recorded as five in favor. The Court also approved a budget transfer of $14,095 from technology funds to building repairs to support facility work. The library roof bid amounts reported to the Court were: McAllen Roofing Commercial — $61,886.58; Argio Roofing — $166,500; Amigo Construction — $92,600.
