The Harvey County Board of Commissioners appointed Caroline Budde to the Harvey County Economic Development Council on Feb. 17.
Don Schroeder moved to appoint Budde to fill the unexpired term ending April 30, 2026, and to serve the subsequent three‑year term from May 1, 2026 to April 30, 2029; Terry Scott seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Commissioners said they appreciated all applicants for the vacancy and discussed preferences: Schroeder stated a preference for Budde while Commissioner Becky Reimer said her first choice would have been Lee Birch.
Budde’s application materials in the packet say she is a multi‑generation local business owner and emphasized a long‑term view of community prosperity. In the submission she wrote, “I am deeply rooted in the community by previous generations as well as upcoming ones. Our family has never thought of just what benefits us now,” and said she aims to help attract people and economic opportunity to Harvey County.
The appointment fills the seat vacated by Melvin Schadler.
