Exemption reviews for Budde Enterprises and Scorpius Industries tabled until March 3 after split vote

The Harvey County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 17 voted 2‑1 to table annual exemption reviews for Budde Enterprises, Inc. and Scorpius Industries, LLC until the March 3 meeting to allow company representatives to appear in person.
Commissioner Becky Reimer proposed tabling both items; Commissioner Don Schroeder said he opposed delaying the reviews. The motion to table carried with Schroeder voting no.
The packet contains certification memos and valuation details for each exemption. Budde Enterprises was granted a 10‑year, 100% project valuation exemption beginning with tax year 2018 and has completed year 8; the 2025 appraised exempt value listed in the packet is $2,063,750 (assessed exempt value $515,938), with a total 2025 tax savings of $61,177.35 (Harvey County portion $23,067.07). Scorpius Industries received a 10‑year graduated exemption beginning in tax year 2025; the packet lists a 2025 appraised exempt value of $525,990 (assessed exempt value $131,498) and a 2025 tax savings of $17,250.83 (county portion $5,879.14).
The board did not take substantive steps to change either exemption at the Feb. 17 meeting; both items are set for further consideration on March 3 when company representatives may appear.
