Public Works Director Curtis Mader outlined damage to the county's variable message boards: flood damage from June 2025 and subsequent vandalism (stolen batteries and gunfire). Staff evaluated repair versus replacement and recommended purchasing $10,881.13 in parts from Wanco to fix the remaining unit rather than buying a new board for $21,623.
Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve purchase of the repair parts on motion by Commissioner Kelly Herzet, seconded by Commissioner Jeff Masterson. Mader said staff had cannibalized parts from the most-damaged unit to restore several boards and the approved purchase will complete repairs to the remaining board.
