Police Chief Unruh told council the department's new Tahoe has arrived and will receive markings this Wednesday with equipment installation next week; in-car camera installation is required before the vehicle is placed in service. He also announced Detective Audra Baker will retire after 30 years of service.
During the fire chief report, council asked whether drones could assist in detecting fires or hidden voids; Fire Chief Conrad said police have drone capability with thermal imaging and that drones can be very helpful if activated quickly, though his department does not currently own a drone. Both chiefs and council members praised the visibility afforded by e-bike patrols on the rail trail and the positive community feedback about those patrols.
