Supervisors approve plans for 17th Street bridge over Elk Creek

On Feb. 10 the Jackson County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 1166-02-10-2026, approving plan specifications, the form of contract and cost estimates for replacing the bridge on 17th Street over Elk Creek.
County roads staff said the project has a scheduled late start—proposed as Aug. 1—to better align construction with summer conditions and harvest traffic. “This 1 on 17th Street is August 1…in an effort to have them built more than ideal times a year, like, in the summertime,” the staff member said, explaining the late-start approach to reduce weather-related delays.
A motion to approve the resolution passed after a second; the board recorded ayes and carried the motion. Staff noted no public comments were received during the hearing. The resolution directs staff to proceed with advertising the project for bids and to return once an award is made so the board may track schedule and costs.
