Council names Casey Wilson Vernonia Citizen of the Month for March

Councilor Susan Wagner presented Casey Wilson as Vernonia’s Citizen of the Month for March 2026, describing a range of community services Wilson organizes. Wagner highlighted Camp Cedar Ridge, Vernonia Village’s no-cost after-school care and tutoring (supported by a Northwest Regional ESD grant), a twice-monthly free laundry program, a community baby shower and Thanksgiving meals, and a food fridge that operates on a take-one/leave-one basis.
Wilson accepted the recognition and made clear the work is a team effort: "I guess I'm the leader, but there are all of these people on our team," she said, thanking volunteers, staff and families. Council members thanked Wilson and invited a photo to mark the recognition. The council framed the award as a local acknowledgment of sustained volunteer and nonprofit work that provides services and seasonal employment to many residents.
