The Jones County Board of Health voted Dec. 29 to require the owners of 8478 Slide Rock Road in Anamosa to either pay for a Time of Transfer inspection or replace their septic system to bring it into code compliance by June 1, 2026. Julia Steere read a written update from Matt Dobler on the neighbor dispute and additional facts were provided by attending residents Steve and Linda Hamilton.
"A motion was made by Dr. Deb to send a letter to the property owners requiring them to pay to have a Time of Transfer Inspection completed, or pay to replace the septic system to bring it up to code and be in compliance by June 1, 2026," the minutes record. The motion was seconded by Denny Coon and the board voted unanimously in favor. The board did not record a cap on replacement costs in the minutes; enforcement will proceed by written notice to the property owners.
