Linn County Public Health briefs BOH on septic violations, well abandonment and maintenance contracts

Matt Dobler of Linn County Public Health provided multiple environmental-health updates to the Jones County Board of Health on Oct. 16, 2025. He said the County Attorney sent a letter regarding a maintenance contract at 211 Vine Street and provided an updated status to the board. No motion was taken on that item.
Dobler also reported a violation letter was sent to the property at 507 S. Linn Street (Hanna) concerning a septic-system violation; the owner must either install a septic system or connect to the City of Anamosa. Dobler checked Anamosa records and found no record of a connection and said he will follow up with the County Attorney. He said a well-abandonment letter was sent for 104 2nd Street in Onslow and that he will continue coordination with the property owner and a local septic contractor; Private Well Grant funds are available to assist with abandonment costs. Dobler provided a brief update on 8478 Slide Rock Road and said delinquent maintenance-contract letters will be sent in January 2026.
