Jones County BOH adopts food/hotel enforcement and returns-check policies; updates PWG rules

The Jones County Board of Health approved several departmental policies on Oct. 16, 2025, including a new Jones County Enforcement Policy for food and hotel licenses and a returned-check fee policy, both presented by Lisa Bogran, Jones County Environmental Health Coordinator.
Bogran said the enforcement policy is based on State Code. On a motion by board member Denny Coon, seconded by board member Connie Goldsmith, the board voted unanimously to adopt the Enforcement Policy. The board later approved the returned-check fee policy on a motion by Goldsmith, seconded by Coon; the vote was recorded as all aye.
In the same session, the board discussed and approved updated Private Well Grant (PWG) Policy and Procedures. Bogran reviewed FY26 first-quarter PWG materials, including budget items and first-quarter claims for the progress report, and noted the updated PWG document will be submitted this month. The board approved the PWG Policy and Procedures on a motion by Coon, seconded by Goldsmith; vote recorded as all aye.
The approvals were procedural and administrative in nature; no ordinances or external contracts were enacted. The Environmental Health Office will submit the updated PWG document per Bogran's report and will follow up on the first-quarter claim reporting schedule.
