Auditor-Treasurer Deb Vierhuf presented department head salaries for 2026 and the non-union salary schedules. The board approved the department head salaries (motion carried by majority with Commissioner Drietz recorded as voting in opposition). Listed department head salaries in the minutes include Sheriff $127,730; Highway Engineer $116,099; Auditor-Treasurer $101,923; Assessor $95,000; among others.
Vierhuf also presented Resolution No. 43-2025 to set County Commissioner compensation (salary $19,797 per annum for 2025, Board Chair additional $1,000), per-diem rates ($100 half-day, $150 full-day), mileage reimbursement at the federal rate and expense submission rules. The resolution lists committees and attendance rules; the board adopted the resolution.
The board also approved a memorandum of agreement with the Highway Union to move to a 12-month vacation period.
