Public health updates: PHIG grant work, senior trainings and vending machine proposal for opioid funding

Brad Knudson briefed the board on PHIG grant work with the state and presented draft mission, vision and values statements developed with Iowa Health and Human Services. He emphasized continuing education and mentioned a Board of Health onboarding class as a helpful resource for members.
Brad said new educational materials have been produced and he is coordinating an Elderly Scam Prevention training with a Cedar County Public Health nurse. He also reported Monticello’s interest in a vending machine like the courthouse unit and said he is working with Chief Smith and local partners; Brad intends to schedule a presentation to the Board of Supervisors to request using opioid funds for the vending machine when details are ready.
