Board approves Sprigio anonymous reporting tool for student safety

The Hermosa Beach City School District board voted to buy Sprigio, an anonymous reporting system the superintendent described as a way for students, parents and staff to submit safety‑related tips about bullying, threats and self‑harm.
"Sprigio is an anonymous school safety program that helps not only just students report concerns in their community and their school, but also parents and school staff and community members," Superintendent Dr. Wilds told the board during his presentation. He said reports can be submitted via a QR code or web form and routed to a staff queue for triage. For tips that include weapons or other credible threats, the superintendent said the district would notify the police department as the first step in response.
Board members asked how the system handles false or repeated anonymous tips and how the district will communicate the tool to students and families. Dr. Wilds said staff will triangulate submissions over time to assess credibility and will develop communication and training materials with the communications director and student council. The board approved the associated contract later in the meeting (agenda item B44‑2425) and directed staff to proceed with account setup and implementation planning.
