Commission approves two conditional use permits for vehicle sales and repair in Douglass and Augusta

The Butler County Commission unanimously approved two Conditional Use Permits on March 24. Toby Stewart, Community Development Director, presented CU 26-01 for property on SW 210th St. in Douglass where the applicant originally sold livestock trailers and requested an amendment to permit sale of up to four or five diesel‑pulling pickup trucks; staff recommended retaining existing conditions including hours (Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday by appointment), designated parking on the east side of the large building and a limit of five pickup trucks for sale at any one time. The Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval 6-0; the Commission approved Resolution No. 26-10 5-0.
Stewart also presented CU 26-02 for property at 10139 SW Haverhill Rd., Augusta, where Lynn Birkey requested permission to operate a small auto repair shop and sell up to 10 vehicles. Stewart noted no new construction is required, the accessory structures and parking are fenced and screened from the road, there are no employees (work by appointment), and a small fence sign will be used for a dealer license. Planning and Zoning recommended approval 6-0; the Commission approved Resolution No. 26-11 5-0. Stewart summarized the key conditions: limited hours, parking and vehicle limits to minimize neighborhood impacts.
