Healdsburg Unified honors about 50 students redesignated as Fluent English Proficient

A district staff member noted, "The students that we're gonna recognize tonight have been redesignated as fluent English proficient, which means that their academic English is on par with their English-only peers." Principals from Healdsburg Elementary, Fitch Mountain Campus and the junior high read students' names, handed out certificates and posed for group photos with teachers.
Principals emphasized that the redesignations reflect coordinated work by teachers, LPAC staff and families. One principal thanked LPAC coordinator Vicky Durie for organizing testing and ensuring students' readiness. Trustees applauded the students and told them to thank their families and teachers for support. The board recorded the recognitions in the meeting minutes and moved on to regular agenda items.
