County launches Move Chatham transportation study; public survey open through November

Chatham County staff and consultant Bolton and Mink presented Move Chatham, a transportation perceptions and needs study intended to map how people and goods move across the county and to guide a long‑term transportation vision.
Lorna Allen, the consultant leading the work, said the project includes an online survey (launched Oct. 17 and open through late November), interactive map tools where residents can flag corridors and specific locations, in‑person listening sessions (including one at Jordan Matthews High School in Siler City), and several stakeholder meetings. "We are just getting started," Allen said, noting the survey is available in English and Spanish and staff are using county social media and outreach events to reach residents. Commissioners emphasized outreach to residents without internet access; Allen said paper surveys and in‑person intercepts at employment centers and community events are planned to boost inclusivity.
