County approves $86,305 generator purchase for sheriff’s office, citing local service availability

Although not the lowest bid, staff recommended the Elkton Electric Kohler unit for its regional technician availability and the quoted one-year warranty and inclusion of labor and relocation of the old unit.
The board approved the Elkton Electric proposal by motion from Commissioner Mic VanDeVere, seconded by Commissioner Joe Drietz; the sheriff's portion of the expense will come from the 911 account, and the purchase includes labor to install the new generator and move the old unit for courthouse use.
