County buys 72" brush mower for parks at $14,500 to support new trails

Lincoln County Park Manager Daryl Schlapkohl asked the Board to approve purchase of a 72" brush mower so parks staff would not need to rely on highway department equipment. Schlapkohl presented three quotes: Bobcat of Brookings $15,000; Christianson Farm Machinery $14,500; and Titan Machinery $14,200, and said he preferred the Diamond Brush model based on experience.
Commissioner Mic VanDeVere moved to approve purchasing the Diamond Brush skid steer mower from Christianson Farm Machinery for $14,500; Commissioner Dean Nielsen seconded and the motion passed unanimously among those present. Schlapkohl said owning dedicated equipment will help maintain new trails and reduce scheduling conflicts with highway operations.
