Sheriff Bob Bushman told the Board he had prepared proposed law‑enforcement contracts with the cities of Hendricks, Ivanhoe and Lake Benton. Each contract is structured as a multi‑year, per‑hour agreement with a 4% annual increase built into the term. Bushman said his methodology uses the county’s cost per hour for a deputy and scales the contract based on the number of contracted hours.
The minutes record that Lake Benton has already approved its contract at a recent city council meeting; Hendricks and Ivanhoe were still considering their agreements. Bushman said he has discussed possible contributions from the local school and hospital to expand presence in those facilities and that contracted hours could be adjusted per city needs. No motion to adopt the contracts was requested at the Nov. 18 meeting.
