Park Manager Anderson outlined the seasonal facility schedule and staffing plans ahead of summer. He said gates at DePaula and Springer and the soccer fields at Giant Eagle are being reopened at the request of the soccer association and that he expects to have most maintenance staff back by mid-April.
Anderson told commissioners he will not open restrooms until frost risk subsides; he said restrooms are likely to open in the first week of May to avoid frozen pipes. On staffing and lifeguards, Anderson said hiring is progressing and he expects to provide final lifeguard and other staffing numbers by May.
"I should have all my guys back by the middle of April," Anderson said when describing staff returns, and later said, "I'll get all that information in by May" regarding lifeguards and employees. The commission asked staff to gather swim-team contact information to coordinate scheduling and staff will report back at a future meeting with confirmed staffing details.
