Board hears maternal health updates; MercyOne to stop delivering babies in Clinton after May 26

Brianna Boswell told the board that Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health programs will continue with Title V and Maternal Child Health block-grant support for FY2027, and that services include I-Smile, the Healthy Pregnancy Program, and Maternal Child and Adolescent Health.
Boswell said the community has arranged a mobile dental x-ray unit for I-Smile hygienists and that a Community Baby Shower is scheduled for April 25 at Journey Church in Clinton. She also reported that MercyOne in Clinton will cease delivering babies after May 26; staff transitions include naming Lorna Bim to the vacated community health nursing position. "They have given that position to Lorna Bim who has been nursing for over 20 years," Boswell said.
Board members discussed continued grant planning and noted state comfort with Title V and Maternal Child Health grants as the county updates FY2027 work plans. The board did not take a separate vote on perinatal services at the meeting but recorded the planned local changes and upcoming community outreach events.
