The resolution text says lifting the moratorium "is the first step in securing the affordable, clean, and reliable energy Minnesotans need," and notes that new nuclear technologies offer smaller footprints and enhanced safety features. The board also stated in the resolution that it "respects Minnesota's Native American Community concerns regarding siting and operation of nuclear power facilities, and the safe storage of waste materials." The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Commissioner Corey Sik and seconded by Commissioner Joe Drietz; the vote was unanimous.
