Library volunteer totals, beautification efforts and upcoming city events highlighted in council reports

The Library Advisory Board (S8) reported recent giving-day donations of $2,500 and described volunteer contributions: the speaker reported roughly "208 adult volunteers, 1,219 volunteers throughout the year" and said the volunteer hours totaled about 6,079, which the library estimated equates to nearly three full-time employees. The board announced Vicki Johnson as the library’s volunteer of the year. City Manager Andrea Rollie (S6) closed staff reports with community events including a Public Works equipment event on May 9 and the Bedford and Williams concert series beginning May 7.
