Council authorizes $91,014 HVAC purchase for City Hall Annex, to be funded from ARPA interest earnings

He said the city will use interest earnings on ARPA funds to make the purchase through a cooperative buying agreement and that the two-unit purchase is estimated at $91,014. Long noted prior compressor replacements in 2022 and explained the planned replacements would bring the building’s four units to a fully modernized state with warranty coverage (five years on the compressor, one year on other parts and labor), and then be added to a preventative-maintenance contract.
Long also summarized the ARPA-interest balance reported on the agenda: $908,000 in interest earnings with $665,000 already allocated, leaving roughly $243,000 available to cover this project. The mayor and council members expressed support for using ARPA interest earnings for infrastructure items. The motion to approve the purchase was moved and seconded on the floor and recorded as passing unanimously.
