Council OKs use of ARPA interest earnings for ADA parking, server replacement and other projects

The Bedford City Council authorized staff to use American Rescue Plan Act interest earnings for several municipal projects during the March 24 meeting.
Assistant City Manager Erin Riggs outlined two immediate requests: finalize construction for ADA parking at the City Hall Annex (about $8,500) and authorize purchase of a replacement server whose hardware will reach end of life later this year. Riggs said staff chose ARPA interest earnings as the funding source to avoid delays and take advantage of current pricing. She reported the ARPA interest balance was about $458,891.02 as of the end of February and that additional ARPA-interest items, including HVAC replacements for the annex, were forthcoming.
Council member Sable moved to approve the allocation and Mayor Pro Tem Michelle Dawkins seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Staff said they will present additional ARPA interest items in April for HVAC and signage projects.
