Magnolia Musical Theatre reports sponsorship gains, new board members and set build for Addams Family

Mister Cannata, presenting for Magnolia Musical Theatre, told the BK Development Corporation the company is ‘in very good shape right now’ as it finishes designs and completes costumes, wigs and props ahead of rehearsals for its upcoming Addams Family production.
Cannata said Magnolia invited two new board members — Christopher Baker and Bob Dye — to bring a city and Hill Country Galleria perspective, and that design work on the show’s set is in its final phase. He described a large, mechanically tracked moon and multiple rotating doors on a set he called ‘by far our most massive set’ for the company’s fifth year of productions.
The company reported strong sponsorship retention and new commitments, including Chisos Grill, Event Power, Rent Equip (Bee Cave location) and an off‑cycle grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts — Magnolia’s first award from that state program. Cannata said the group has added approximately $40,000 on top of contributions from the Galleria and the city and expects that will allow Magnolia to reduce its city funding request next year. “We’re on pace, to definitely lower our ask of the city next year for the first time ever,” he said.
Staff and board members discussed marketing and sponsor recognition; Cannata said sponsors receive prominent placement on posters, banners and the company’s redesigned website and that each sponsor will receive a day-long social spotlight beginning in June.
Magnolia’s in-season schedule includes rehearsals starting June 6 at St. Edward’s University, a full stage build beginning June 8, a combined orchestra/cast rehearsal (SITS) on June 27, a city-invite preview performance on July 14 (8:00 p.m.), and opening night on July 15. Cannata invited the board and city staff to attend the preview performance and said tech week with amplified sound runs July 5–13, when nearby properties might occasionally receive noise complaints.
The presentation closed with thanks from the board. The board did not take formal action on the report; the update was received for informational purposes.
