Public commenters press board for clearer budget transparency and published lease documents
Summary
Several public commenters urged more transparency about the budget, the SIA grant spending, class sizes, and the timing and publication of lease agreements; one commenter said the Embrace Preschool lease should have been posted in advance and called the omission a governance failure.

During public comment several speakers urged the board to publish detailed budget materials and to clarify how state allocations and the SIA grant are being spent, particularly where those dollars affect class size and student supports. One longstanding public commenter pointed to prior‑year adjustments and asked for publicly available records to reconcile per‑student funding and staffing changes.
Athena Contreras — speaking during public comment — criticized the timing and disclosure around the leases and asked for more public notice: "The lease agreement should have been published in advance. It is not a procedural footnote. It is failure of transparency governance," the Public commenter said. The chair invited commenters to email questions to staff and noted staff are willing to provide follow‑up answers in advance of the June meetings.
